"DEAR PINK KHAKI ..."
Your letters - our answers
Suilad and kudos to all at Pink-Khaki!

Thank you so much for featuring Lord of the Rings as your latest special! This is some of the most original, creative, and hilarious material I've come across for a long time [in a world known as "Middle Earth Fandom"], and I and a whole Net-load of fans are eternally grateful for the same!

The cartoons in particular are great, as is the "You Know Everybody Has Heard of The Lord of the Rings When" section ["Orlando Bloom will be knighted, and must now be addressed as Sir Orli" - priceless!] The writing style of this site is great, and I'll be sure to check out the rest of it, as well (though Stargate is relatively new to me)

On a side note: the links in particular were wonderful! I was thrilled to see the list posted here for chief reference alone, as it was, simply because I've been to practically every site featured-and loved it! Two in particular-
www.stupidring.com and www.theonering.net -have previously been regular "havens" of mine. Wonderful taste, guys! ; )

Thanks for all your given time and joint effort placed into creating this!

Sincerely,

Alquawen***

*** Which can be translated [in Elvish] as either of the following: "Swan-Maiden"or "Legolas-fan". Whichever you prefer. Also, extended greetings to the one editor "goes moo-moo eyes over Orlando Bloom": there are some really great sites out there to find info on everyone' fave Elf/Kent lad!]

PK sez: wow gee - that's some kinda feedback! thanks a lot, glad to hear you enjoy our special. we actually know close to zilch about the "middle earth fandom", we're only innocent ::cough cough:: by-standers. so it's pretty darn kewl to hear we didn't fail completely.

PS: the moo-moo eyed editor sends greetings back. we have locked up her computer and try to keep her away from all things bloomy, so don't encourage the woman, heaven know where this might end!

PPS: moo-moo eyed editor here: just you wait and see - I will be right about the knighting bit!
I've never heard of Stargate, but DAMN! I envy your fandom for Pink Khaki! Had the laugh of my life! "Did you call me MITZI" - mwuahahahahaha!

Thanks so much for this special. I find it much easier to live with the Alinghi-dinghi debacle now (still a shame, though!)

Greetings from NZ

Ani

PK sez: thanks! good to hear we could do something to improve the diplomatic relationSHIP (no pun intended!) between Switzerland and NZ :-D
Corinna I hate you! :-D

She got to see Craig Parker!!! IN GERMANY! ARGH! This is not fair - I live in New Zealand and never met him!  My day is ruined, lol!

Great webzine, loved every letter of it (the Haldir article was superb!) - MORE MORE MORE!

Steph

PK sez: maybe we shouldn't mention that she not only got to SEE craig parker, but also managed to hug and kiss him ...? naw. better not ... ;O)
Legolas, son of Thranduil, King of Mirkwood: Interesting, therefore, that Legolas has more claim to royalty than Aragorn does when they meet up with the Riders of Rohan, yet Aragorn still merely introduces him as "Legolas of the Woodland Realm". Are we detecting a hint of jealousy? Well, Legolas does have nicer hair, after all.

Haldir of Lothlorien: Indeed, Tolkien did NOT send him to Lothlorien, and I find it most distressing that Galadriel thought it alright to send him to bear Elrond's words. Wouldn't a less important, and less knowledgeable in the ways of go-go boots and hair straighters, be better? Of course, who I am to question the ways of the Lady Galadriel? In my mother's words, "Just wait - he'll probably come back from the dead in the next movie, like that Wizard guy."

Jennie

PK sez: we're pretty sure Aragorn envies Legolas for his discounts at "Lush". Coconut-scented bath bombs for half the price CAN make a man lose his objectivity, so let's not be too hard in our judgement ... as for Haldir: please say hello to your mother - if she should ever be in town, she's entitled to free cookies.
Haldir's untimely death in the TTT is a crime against all Elven kind!

Tamara

PK sez: hear hear! where are AI if you need them!
In her article, Pinkie states she would like to have coffee with David Beckham, as he is one of a group  of men who has a lot to talk about!!!!!

DAVID BECKHAM !!

Is there a language barrier here !!, he may be quite fanciful, when he is not wearing a SKIRT !

But, every time the man opens his mouth I cringe, you could not pay me enough to have coffee with this man, now RDA well another matter entirely !!

Denzel Washington, yum yum !!

Pen

Pinkie sez: Dear Pen, thanks for your mail.

I can't see why you think that a conversation with "Becks" might not offer much. Personally I believe the man can talk about football, fashion, make up a.s.o. There is nothing wrong with that. You never know, on a bad day RDA may have a lot less to offer.

And there is always the "let's skip the coffee" thing to talk about too.:)

Pinkie - who will see the mighty BECKS play at Old Trefford in two days!
I WANT THE IT-ELF!!! AND I WANT HIM NOW!! :)

Thanks guys, you wrote exactly what I feel. I read it to my mum and now she understands. And you are right:

HALDIR LIVES!!!

Peggy

PK sez: we are awfully flattered that we could, once again, bring light in to the darkness. Do not thank us - it's all in a days for the Pink Puff Girls.

And now off, off to the Elfmobile!
Re: "Real People Fic"

Hi Rizwaana Husaini, Doc and friends,  8-)

Yes, looking back, I've written R.P.F. in a manner of speaking.  It was to make a point - that one shouldn't do it! - and to raise money for the charities of which the particular real people are patrons.

The case was this.  I'm a Queen fan - have been since Live Aid.  I've seen them twice at Wembley and at Knebworth.  Brilliant!!!  8-)  And I been to every Fan Club Convention so far, which is where I sold my fics. with the kind permission of the Fan Club Secretary.

In November 1991, Freddie Mercury died.  That meant it was open season on him by the journalists because they could now write what they liked, safe in the knowledge that, under British law, they could no longer be sued for libel.  So a number of people brought out 'biographies' of Freddie, written in the guise of close and trusted friends, complete with photographs of the authors with Freddie - so what they wrote had to be true, didn't it?  <rolls eyes>

So I wrote three little 'biography' fics. (all I had time for before the Con.) by the subjects' "life-long friend and bosom buddy".  Sex didn't get a look in anywhere BTW.

A teen-aged Brian May (who in R.L. was offered a job at Jodrell Bank Observatory by Professor Sir Bernard Lovell - and turned it down to be a rock guitarist F.C.O.L.! <g>) had an alien spaceship land in his garden and was taken for a trip round the solar system - so absolutely true there then! <BG>

Similarly, a young Roger Taylor (who read biology/dentistry at Uni.) combined Benj. Franklin and Frankenstein, tried to reanimate a dead cat with a kite in a thunderstorm, was carried aloft by the kite, caught by a roc and taken to its nest in the Pyrenees.  Freddie had a fantasy adventure in India where he went to school.

Having said that, I would never, ever write fics. about them, or any other celebrities that purported to represent them in their real lives.

For instance, and taking in the thrust of the argument as it were <g>, I adore Jack and Daniel.  They're characters, they're not real and they belong to us, the viewers - well okay, technically Gekko, M.G.M. yadda yadda...  I'm happy to read - and write - slash fics. about those *characters*.

I respect R.D.A and M.S. as actors immensely.  As actors, they're public people and I'm happy to discuss them in performance.

I do *not* know R.D.A. and M.S. as private people and have no interest in ferreting out information about their private lives.  That belongs to them and is no business of mine.  I think imputing activities to them, especially on a sexual level, is an invasion of privacy, very likely constitutes libel, and I want no part of it.

Just my two penn'orth.  Make that two quids' worth. <G>

Best wishes,
Sue

PK sez: Thanks a lot for your letter, Sue! Looks like we're on the same page here.

We would just like to point out that, up to our knowledge, there are NO RPF involving any of the Stargate actors / actresses. And if there should be, please
nobody tell us ...
Re: "Copyright and Copywrong"

Rather than buy possibly bootlegged merchandise, please consider donating to charity in honor of the celebrity.

PK sez: great idea!
What? No JR Bourne nor Colin Cunningham in the Thunkables?

PK sez: ehr ... no ... but then we're a little odd ...

Paper Doc...Pinkie, no cariacature of Teryl? Surely you are up to the challenge...

PK sez: Pinkie was, but the cartoonist wasn't. He exhausted himself by drawing poodles ...

Re: LOTR special

Hello "Pink Khaki" crew

I followed the link on ONE RING, and I just had to tell you what an entertaining, original and fun website this is. The cartoons are brilliant, the articles are fun to read but still well-researched, and offer a very different POV. You express your admiration for the actors without being lewd. I had a quick brush through the rest of the website, and found some very interesting articles making intriguing read. I've never seen "Stargate", but if this show deserves such an online publication, I might tune in.

Best wishes from Wellington
Martin (who was one of the Orcs in TTT, but NOT the one killing Haldir!)

PK sez: wow - a man is reading Pink Khaki? That's kewl news! Thanks for your compliments - we actually have no objections towards Orcs reading our mag. Actually, some people suspect parts of this magazine are WRITTEN by an Orc ... ;-)
Re: Doc's Motem's

Another great issue of Pink Khaki, thanks guys! Doc, we love you. We really do and we love your websites. But HUH?!? ORLANDO BLOOM?!?!? He can't act, and look at this: you really think THIS MAN can beat Michael Shanks?!? Ewwww! You can't be serious!"

Shanks #1 fan!

The Doc sez: I've never seen the Shanks in a bathtub, so I can't compare. But there is nothing a bit of soap and a razor can't improve ... or pulling the stopper ...
