We really enjoy introducing you to our guest-cartoonist, all the way from Middle Earth (ok. Finland.) - and if you enjoy her "Lord of the ?Rings" artwork (and everything else she does) only half as much as we do, you'll enjoy it MUCHO!
"I'm a 19 year old girl from Finland, and right now, I'm studying cartooning (for one year) in mid-Finland. My hobbies are drawing and watching movies - I'm a movie-freak. Almost all my free time goes to mainly drawing (LotR-pics or my own characters). I've been drawing for all my life. Started probably when I first could hold a pen. (i.e. I dont' remember so well - I've just always been drawing) :) Usually I draw on plain A4 copy-paper. First I draw the pic with pencil, then ink it with normal ink-pens. For colouring I usually use my Tria- and prisnacolor-markers or sometimes, when I got time, Photoshop 6.0. (very seldom, though)." For a full biography and more information about Sanna, please read her own "ABOUT ME" site.

FINDING SANNA - CREATIVE LORD OF THE RING FANDOM
The "Lord of the Ring" fandom must be one of the most creative ones. Hardly ever have we seen such a wealth of talent and fantasy as here; it looks like the magic of the movie and its characters is driving muses all over the planet to work into overdrive. You can find art of all kind - cartoons, drawings, paintings, computer art - playdoo, even! What made Sanna's art stick out to us when we stumbled over her site by accident was her humour. Not only does she have the gift to transfer this humour on paper (a talent even some of the most gifted cartoonists don't always have), she also doesn't take herself too serious, or the characters she draws. But never she´s laughing ABOUT the characters, but makes us laugh WITH them, which gives her drawings a loveable quality that makes them stick out.

THE INFLUENCES
Sanna's interest in Japanese Manga and her admiration for Tim Burton (specifically "A Nightmare Before Christmas") and his work shows in her pictures, especially in her non-LOTR-related art. (CLICK HERE TO SEE SANNA'S ORIGINAL ART). But while the influence is there, it hasn't kept her away from developping her own style. She hasn't stepped in the "copycat" trap like so many other young artists who neglect their own creativity and artistic potential by desperately trying to copy somebody else's style. She's still very young, and without a doubt, she will further develop herself and her art in the upcoming years, but already, she has chosen her own way, and I guess this way will bring her pretty far.
HOBBITS, HOBBITS - AND EVEN MORE HOBBITS!
![]() |
Sanna quite obviously LOVES hobbits (who doesn't!). And like fan-fiction authors have their own perceptions how the characters are, her hobbits got a specific "Sanna-touch" - oh boy, you wouldn't want to be the one to keep an eye on these rascals all the time (poor Aragorn ...) :-)

Taking things literally ...
Recently, at your local fast-food restaurant ...
Everybody loves hobbits. Especially girls do. The "Beware of Frodo-Fans" series by Sanna shows this pretty clearly ... this is a draft for part 5.
HAVE WE MADE YOU CURIOUS?
Yes? GOOD! Then you will, without a doubt, feel now the urge to surf over to Sanna's websites and check out all her stuff - what we have shown you here is only a very, very small part of her art. It was a subjective choice, anyway, we can promise you lotsa goodies on these sites:
Sanna's Lord of the Rings mini-shrine - please note: as the site is hosted on geocities, you might encounter the dreaded "page not available at the moment, hourly access rata overused" or something of that kind message. Don't get discouraged - try again: it's definitely worth it!
